Prothrombin, human (frozen)

Description
Human Prothrombin was isolated from fresh frozen plasma, employing Barium citrate absorption, EDTA elution, citrate buffer, DEAE and heparin-Sepharose column chromato-graphy. Molecular weight: 72 kDa.

Caution
The source plasma for this product was tested prior to initiation of the manufacturing process and was found negative or nonreactive for anti-HIV-112, HIV-1 antigen(s), HBsAg, STS, anti-HCV, anti-HBcore and anti-HTLV I & II. Extreme caution should be used when handling this material as there is a margin of error in all tests, and testing does not always disclose pathogens or other harmful substances contained in blood plasma products.

Specific Activity
Specific activity is given in U/mg. One unit is equivalent to the Prothrombin activity in one milliliter of human normal plasma (determined utilizing Beckman Coulter's ACL Top instrument and reagents). See vial label for lot-specific activity.
